COVID-19 Club Rugby Update 25/08/2020


Kia ora,

Following the government announcement on Monday 24 August please find below key updates as Auckland Rugby strives to innovate and grow our community game and build a stronger rugby whanau.

Key Updates

  • Auckland will operate under COVID–19 Alert Level 3 restrictions until at least midnight Sunday 30 August.
  • Providing no material changes, on Monday 31 August, Auckland will move to Alert Level 2, with gatherings restricted to a maximum of 10 people until Sunday 6 September at the earliest.
  • This means all Community Rugby including, Goodyear Senior Club, PIC Junior Rugby & Secondary School Rugby practices and games continue to be suspended. 
  • This is subject to change and we continue to be guided by advice from the Ministry of Health (MoH), Ministry of Education (MoE) and NZ Rugby.

 

Training

  • Senior Clubs and Secondary Schools training may resume, at the School or Club’s discretion, under Alert Level-2 (Monday 31 August)
  • All Clubs and Schools must follow strict MoH, MoE (where applicable), NZ Rugby hygiene requirements and ensure Auckland Rugby R2P protocols are met - Including 10-person bubble restrictions.
  • Junior Rugby training cannot recommence before Monday 7 September and only once R2P Blueprints have been signed off and at an individual club’s discretion.

Potential Return to Play & Resumption of Competitions

  • The earliest date that Community Rugby could restart is Saturday 12 September
  • Auckland Rugby is working alongside the Council of Delegates, the ASSRU Executive Committee and College Sport to consider various restart options.
  • No decisions have been made yet around impacts on the competitions and as the relevant committees meet any decisions made will be communicated to our stakeholders
