Waikare G C :- Again we were lucky with the weather 23 keen golfers teed off in teams all in  anticipation of winning a bottle of wine. The top team of the day was Warren Southgate 37, Ted Atkins 35, Lloyd Dowd 35 and Patron Ash 31. Other good individual scores were Muzza 43, ‘Bookie’ Hewitt 39, Rod Hatfull 38 and Westy 37. More interest was shown in the recipient of the ‘Hat’- one has often wondered why a certain gentleman has never won this inane, ridiculous prize- maybe because he dictates what section of the club is competing for it. Even when on a countback it was clearly his prize he still tried – another system was used by drawin card lots! Destiny prevailed his card came out. Congratulations Allan Mc – oh.. he has also made the comment “if I ever win that f….. hat I will resign from Kings Arms. ( his points were 23)
New member :- Welcome to Wayne Cuthbert on behalf of the KAGC
Four Day Trip :- This group left early Thurs morning to play Tauhara GC – Results of the day were  Brian O’Neale winning the day 43pts and $200 Westy 41 and $100 ( I bet with prizes like that the rest of the club members are pissed off they did not come.) other good scores Muzza 40, Richard Norburn 39, Ray B 38 and  Rod H 38. Parrots hat (new members only) Fraser Lamb 36
Day 2 :- Centennial this course was more difficult than the first day Cash winner was ‘Bookie’ Hewitt with 40, in the money again was Brian O with 38 other scores Muzza and Ray B with 37.
Wayne Thomson kept his head warm with the hat with 21.
Day 3 :- The day everyone was eager to play. Unfortunately we were destined to play only ½  a game as the rain came down so heavy greens were flooded. Results for 9 holes were Dave W 22, B. Cole,R, Baillie and ‘Bookie’ 21. New member Wayne Cuthbert did not take long to meet the parrot with 8.
Day 4:- Thank goodness Putaruru GC was substituted with Huntly as the weather improved the further we moved towards home. By the scoring of the group it looked as if everybody was ‘golfed out’ with Ray B taking the cash with 35, runners up were ‘Bookie’,Muzza, Brian O and Richard Norburn. On a countback with 21 for the parrots Jim Murray won it from Mick H – the countback was done on the ‘Suburbs v Ponsonby’ format that everybody knows!!
