Suburbs scored first through a good runaway try from Kyle but then Marist scored the next three tries while the home side were scrambling to keep up and make their tackles. Jonpaul scored before half-time but Marist lead at the break 20-10. Two more quick tries early in the second half had Marist leading 30-10. Then Suburbs started to make their tackles and Jonpaul started to hit his straps scoring his second try, which was his 100th career try for Suburbs, and then he quickly scored his third try of the day moments later. Exchanging tries now with Marist, Kyle got his second try and when Alex found some of his old form, scoring two very good tries, Suburbs found themselves just 5 points behind. All the boys showed a steely determination on defence while Jonpaul wrestled for the ball and muscled through for the equaliser. James then thwarted their return attack - tackling their star player, Suburbs then secured possession, Jonpaul spotted the gap and scampered through to score his fifth try on the final whistle to secure a brilliant 'come-from-behind' victory.

Jonpaul was Player of the day leading his team to another win and has been our star attacking force throughout the season with 57 tries.

For the second week in a row we had torrential conditions, which once again encouraged another tight encounter. Waitemata scored first but then Jonpaul White scored two tries, the first of which brought up his 50 tries for the season and Suburbs lead early 10-5. However, despite another two Suburbs tries, both to Ben Cameron, the home side lead at half-time 25-20.
Jonpaul scored his third try early in the second half to tie it up but then the Tigers scored 3 of the last 4 tries to win it. James Loveday scored his first career try to keep Suburbs close in the closing stages.
Alex McMillan had a few surging runs in the deluge and was our Player of the Day.

In dreadful conditions, Suburbs got off to a bright start when Ben carried a tackler over the line with him to score first and then Jonpaul broke down the right wing from a lineout to score and the home side lead 10-0.
However Eden then scored the next 4 tries to lead at the break 20-10. But then Suburbs stepped up their play in the second half, keeping Eden scoreless while Ben scored his 2nd try and Jonpaul scored his 2nd & 3rd to clinch the match in the dying stages.
Kayla was involved throughout the game on attack & defence and was unlucky not to score down the left wing - she was our Player of the day.

It was a sea-saw affair with Waitemata scoring first, then Suburbs lead for a spell during the first half before the Chiefs inched ahead by half time with the score; 20-15. The second half saw Waitemata stretch their lead initially and stay out in front for the remainder of the match.
Ben and Jonpaul both scored 2 tries each, Alex scored once and Alec tackled to a very high level.
The match ended with our Player of the day, Blake scoring the final try of the match after having made several incisive breaks and tackling at the usual high standard we've come to expect from Blake.

In the initial stages of this match it seemed the teams were fairly evenly matched. However Suburbs started to score regularly through the usual avenues and lead at half time 35-5.
Ben and Jonpaul were prolific as usual with 6 and 5 tries respectively while Kyle and Alex were both welcome returns to the team and contributed with tries also. There were good runs from Blake and Kayla while Alec was fierce on defence as usual backed up by Zac, James and Joseph. Xlah had his best game on his birthday.
He made his presence known on offense and defence and capped it off with his first ever try and was our Player of the day.

Both teams were missing players because of the holidays and sickness and so it was eight a side with no subs. Suburbs started slowly and never really got out of second gear.
We tackled well but Carlton tackled better although often from an offside position - this does often happen at this level, however Carlton were just a little more adept at it than we are accustomed. Jonpaul White scored our first try and Ben Cameron got our second but we were behind 10-35 at half time. Ben scored our only 3 tries of the second half through some good bustling runs. But Carlton were just too good in the end.

James Loveday tackled well and made a couple of good runs and was our Player of the day.

In the absence of a holiday draw, the Hawks agreed to play us again at Shadbolt Park but they would have been forgiven for regretting it before long as the try count mounted against them. It didn't seem that much of a one sided affair, but for the fact that one side wasn't scoring and at half time the Blue team lead 55-0.
Ben Cameron was in top try scoring form (7), as was Blake Southgate & Jonpaul White (4 each) and our youngest player Hala Malimali (still 6) scored 2 tries and Alec Walsh scored 1.

Henderson Asiata was our Player of the day. He got stuck in, making plenty of tackles and was unlucky not to score.

We had a really tough game on a boggy Waitemata Park against very good team. Seven tries were conceded before Ben scored Suburbs' first try of the game which was the final act of the first half. Jonpaul scored twice in the second half and Ben scored his second try before the Seagulls went on another streak of five unanswered tries to the end the game.
Despite the large margin, it was at least nice to be beaten by a team, legitimately better in skill level. On a day when the team struggled with its tackling,

Our Player of the day Alec Walsh tackled brilliantly throughout the game and went on several surging runs that threatened the try line.

This game treated us to all the challenges inherent in playing 'away'. There was no greater indication of this than when a 20 player mall was allowed to carry on for seemingly several minutes at the start of the game. To the Suburbs supporters it always seemed as though their team had the measure of Ponsonby, however they stayed annoying close on the scoreboard throughout the match, trailing by only 2 tries at half time (35-25) and also at the final whistle. Ben continued his good try scoring form with 3 tries, while Alec, Alex, Blake & Kyle all scored also.

Our Player of the Day was Jonpaul. He played with grit and determination, scored 6 tries and tackled well. He now has 32 tries in 8 matches this season.

Despite missing our star try scorer JP (26 tries in 7 games this year), we were quickly in a dominant position and lead 40-15 at half time. But having scored two first half tries, Alex had an asthma attack and had to head home. This left the Hawks a grand opportunity to fight back.
The Blue team toiled hard but the Hawks actually played very well and made up a three try deficit in the final stages to draw the game. Ben had a great game scoring 6 tries, Kyle got 3 and Kayla & Alec both scored as well.

Our Player of the Day was Zac Hayward. Zac was much improved on both attack and defence throughout the game and deserved to take home the trophy.

University Blue represents the best team we have played so far. This was not apparent early on in the game however as Suburbs took a 10 - 5 lead. But then University scored 7 unanswered tries and lead 45-15 at half time. Suburbs attacking play came right in the second half and they managed to lift their final score to 60.
Hala and Alec both scored good tries, Alex and Ben scored 3 tries each and JP got 4. However, University scored a further 14 tries themselves in the second half to total 23 for match.

Joseph has been steadily improving in recent weeks, especially with his tackling and he had another good game today of note, deserving of Player of the Day.

Carlton Green were unbeaten heading into this game, and Suburbs put up a very good fight especially in the first half, at one point leading 15-10. And at half-time we were only just trailing 30-35. But it took 20 minutes to get on the board in the second half by which time Carlton had scored a further 5 tries. Jonpaul was at his prolific best with 5 of his own tries and Alec had another solid game with 2 tries. Alex and Ben both scored very good solo tries against the run of play.

Ben played his best game of the year and was Player of the Day. He made many tackles and wrestled for the ball well which lead to several surging runs.

The teams were much better matched than last week and Suburbs Blue played very well. Or at least they did after a shaky start which saw each team score 2 tries each without barely a single tackle been made.
Then both teams started to tackle better, but Suburbs just slightly better than Eden and after leading at half-time 30-20 the home side completely dominated the second half out scoring the Rebels by 35 points to 10. Jonpaul scored 5 tries, Alex & Blake 2 while Hala, Ben, Alec & Kayla all scored tries also.

Hala was our Player of the Day for consistent bustling play on attack and defence throughout the game.

We were well beaten by a bigger and faster team today, however it was made more difficult by the fact that we were two players down and had 11 players and Ponsonby had 20 players.
It was a tough game but the boys hung in there and continued to work hard throughout the match. Alec and Blake continue to be our leading tacklers, and JP and Alex our leading try scorers (2 tries each).

Player of the Day was Kyle Davison who made incisive breaks throughout the game including a very good try in the corner.

Carlton lead early in the first half 10-5 as the rain fell, but then the sun came out and our try scoring machine (JP) got going and with Kayla's good run away try and one also from Kyle we had a healthy lead at half time. In the second half Ben scored a good length of the field try while Alex scored two tries as did JP, to add to the 3 he scored in the first half. Once again the tackling was very good, James Loveday made a couple of notable tackles and had a much improved game.

But Player of the Day once again went to the best tackler of the day who was Blake. He made many tackles throughout the game including a couple of try saving tackles as the last line of defence.

Blake got us off to a great start scoring the first try of the game. But the Tigers proved to be a difficult opponent with superior size and pace (and they were good fenders too). In a game dominated by mauls and opposition off-side play, all of the Suburbs Blue team toiled well in the heat. Again the tackling was very good from both sides.

Alex was player of the day for good attacking and defensive play including the tackle of the day, a try saving tackle in the corner. Special thanks to Tim Hayward for refereeing in trying circumstances.

Alec was the best tackler in the team's first game of 'tackle' or 'Learning Rugby Level' today, and add that to the fact he scored two tries meant he was our Player of the Day.

Henderson and JP also tackled well, the latter prolific as usual when it came to try scoring. All the boys contributed well including our three debutants. But the feature of the day was actually how both teams tackled so well in their first go at it.

Thanks to Kayla for turning out and playing for us today.

Well the season has come to an abrupt end and with it the end of the teams first season of tackle.
It seems like only yesterday that they were just starting.  Jaxon looked like he was going to get a run away try like the previous week,  with a very wet muddy ball, holding on to it was a slippery mission.  At half time we were down 0 tries to 10 and we just got hammered, losing 0 - 100.  Ponsonby Black played a hard and fast game, their ball handling even in these conditions was to be commended.  Well done team we are all very proud of you.

Well we thought last weeks conditions were bad, we were wrong.  Today had to be the worst day, there was mud and rain like you wouldn't believe.  This was one tough game, we had five boys away, the other team had only eight players turn up, we had ten.  We were asked to field only eight so we had rolling subs of two players.  From the outset this was always going to be tough, little did we know just how tough.  With having to wash mud out of kids eyes and strap an ankle injury, it was inevitable that I would miss a try or two.  At half time we were down 1 -12 tries.  Little did I know that apparently I missed five tries, which has sparked a major controversy over the score.  To me our team played very well in the most trying of conditions and were beaten soundly. Were they upset?  No they had fun and enjoyed the fact that they could get muddy.   I have the final score as 5 - 115   W. Seagulls say the final score is 5 - 140
At the end of the day these guys are only 7 and 8 years old it is not championship competion.   To be quite honest I am happy that our Team played their little hearts out, have trained hard and no we haven't won much but they have enjoyed themselves and will come back next season with a fair sense of play not one of pettyness.

What a day, the wettest day we have had for a game.  We had six of our team away today which made it very hard on boys.  In very trying conditions they played very well with a very slippery ball.  We were down 1try to 8 at half time and considering the conditions a great game was had.  No we didn't win but the feeling of the Team is one of happiness that they tried their best.  Final score 5 -75

A very cold clear day we met at Western Springs, it was to be Grant M's last game for the season with us as our Coach.  What a fantastic game, the team were hoping to come away with a win, they played very hard wanting to make Grant's last game a win.  Unfortunately we lost, the team worked exceptionally hard to keep the other teams score low and at 2 - 5 at half time it was looking good.  We couldn't fault the way the whole team pulled together.  Well done guys.  Final score 20 - 55
